The Model 45C consists of an H2S - to - SO2 converter coupled to a pulsed fluorescence SO2 analyzer. Continuous H2S monitoring is accomplished by conversion of the H2S in the sample to SO2 and its subsequent detection by the SO2 analyzer according to the following reation:


H2S + 3/2(O2) => SO2 + H2O


The converter section of the Model 45C cataytically converts each H2S molecule to SO2 so that the ouput of the SO2 analyzer is equal to the concentration of H2S entering the converter. Any SO2 present in the original sample is scrubbed prior to its entrace into the converter, providing an instrument response to H2S.
